FCDHBCN offering Iran’s ‘The Pains of the Sea’

The FCDHBCN in Spain is streaming Iran’s ‘The Pains of the Sea’.

The Film Festival and Human Rights of Barcelona (FCDHBCN) in Spain has been streaming Iranian flick ‘The Pains of the Sea’.

Directed by Mohammad-Reza Masoudi, the short film is among the selected works at the 17th edition of the Spanish fest.

‘The Pains of the Sea’ is about refugees who are forced to flee their countries because of war, but they embark on a journey that is not less risky than the war.

“Syrian and Iraqi refugees try to cross the sea to reach Turkey. A mother has to choose between seeing and not, the death of her child in front of her eyes in the sea...,” a synopsis for the film reads.

‘The Pains of the Sea’ has also gone on screen at some global events, including the Jacksonville Film Festival in the US, the Ramsgate International Film Festival in the UK, the Smaragdni Eco Film Festival in Croatia, and the Premio Fausto Rossano Film Festival in Italy, where it won the Best Short Film award.

The FCDHBCN aims to promote and open up spaces for screening of cinematographic works dealing with the defense of human rights.

At the same time it means to increase public awareness and boost the respect for the human rights.

Due to the pandemic, the fest has been held online since December 1, 2020 and it will wrap up on March 5, 2021.
